Directed by Abu Bakr Shawky, The Stories stars Amir El Masry, Nelly Karim and Valerie Pachner, alongside a wider ensemble cast. The film centres on Ahmed, an aspiring pianist whose long-distance relationship with an Austrian pen pal unfolds against a backdrop of war, family conflict, personal setbacks and triumphs, and the social and political changes shaping Egypt during the 1980s.
