The partnership focuses on several key areas such as attracting and retaining audiences, building products for video and mobile, maximising advertising revenues and imparting digital skills to journalists.

Al Jazeera already works closely with Google and claims that its dedicated content reaches more than two million subscribers through the broadcasters YouTube channels. Google Newsstand helps to widen distribution, investment in and optimisations for mobile leading to mobile users now making up over 70% of the audience and across all channels.
