The TVs, which will be powered by voice assistant Alexa, are currently designed and manufactured by third parties, one of which is TCL.
Amazon is set to launch its own branded TV sets in the US next month.
According to a report from Business Insider, the TVs will be designed and manufactured by third parties such as TCL. The teams from Amazon Devices and Lab126 have also been developing a model designed in-house but it is unclear when that might be released
The TVs are expected to be offered in sizes between 55-75 inches, while featuring Amazon’s Fire TV software and prominently placing the Alexa smart assistant within the OS.
While Amazon’s Fire TV software has been deployed in the US on Toshiba and Insignia TVs, this would mark the first time that Amazon-branded TVs are sold in the country and would potentially present a new competitor to brands such as Samsung and LG.
Amazon currently sells Amazon Basics-branded TVs in India. Those sets, manufactured by Radiant Appliances and Electronics Pvt Ltd., feature Amazon’s Fire TV OS, while coming in 50- and 55-inch models.
