Multi-media streaming platform Anghami has announced substantial growth in user engagement and multiple operational achievements across its video and music services. The company achieved significant cost synergies, while simultaneously driving an 18% increase in Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) on the direct base. Earlier this year, Anghami joined forces with leading video streaming platform OSN+. Since the collaboration, its video streaming engagement has shown exceptional momentum, with total hours watched surging by 28% during January-September 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.
Commenting on the platform’s performance, Elie Habib, CEO of Anghami & OSN+, said, “Our strong performance this quarter, marked by an 18% ARPU increase on direct subscribers and 28% growth in streaming engagement, showcases the success of our integrated entertainment strategy. Through premium content expansion across both video and music, as well as technical innovation like DolbyVision and DolbyAtmos, we’re elevating how the MENA region experiences digital entertainment.”
The company’s growth strategy was driven by several strategic initiatives. For instance, for OSN+, it implemented several improvements in the AI recommendation engine, particularly for new users, resulting in a 20% engagement increase. It was the first in the region to introduce DolbyVision and
DolbyAtmos viewing experiences for audiences. Further, the company launched the Apple Vision Pro application in collaboration with Apple coinciding with the UAE release. Anghami also partnered with major regional telcos like STC, Mobily, Du and e& to expand its 4K premium payment options.
Further, the platform launched a new Standard with Ads tier, unlocking premium entertainment for a broader audience while maintaining our signature high-quality streaming experience. This strategic move opened new revenue streams while democratising access to its extensive content library which included hits like The Penguin, From Season 4, The Day of the Jackal, Dune: Prophecy and The Fashionista. Additionally, in a groundbreaking move for regional entertainment, OSN+ introduced the first-ever Arabic
dubbing of popular series such as Succession, Big Little Lies, The Undoing, and The Night Of.
On the music front, Anghami continued to strengthen its music and cultural offerings It extended its Amr Diab’s music catalogue, with three major concerts scheduled for April 2025 in Cairo, Amman and Abu Dhabi. It announced a collaboration with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture for a Cultural Talent
Tournament between January and July 2024 supporting the Kingdom’s vision in discovering and developing musical talents. It also launched Sajjel, the Arab world's first podcast competition, in partnership with the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission.
