BeIN Sports aims to provide much-needed relief, even if temporarily, for those who have experienced immense suffering, underscoring the company's dedication to fostering unity, resilience, and hope.
BeIN Sports has announced that it is airing all 51 matches from the ongoing AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 live on community screens within the Palestinians’ housing complex and at Sidra Medicine, where many are undergoing medical treatment. The broadcaster is demonstrating its commitment to support the State of Qatar’s humanitarian efforts for Palestinians evacuated from Gaza.
The Palestine national football team’s participation in the tournament, which commenced on January 12 and will conclude on February 10, has become a source of inspiration for the injured Palestinians. Due to their medical conditions, attending matches in person is not feasible, but beIN Sports ensures they can enjoy comprehensive coverage from the comfort of their residences.
Hatem Al Trabelsi and Youssef Chippo, beIN Sports analysts and former professional footballers, made a visit to the complex. The duo engaged with the injured individuals, watched the match between Palestine and the United Arab Emirates, and even played a spirited game of football with the children.
Mohammad Al-Subaie, CEO of beIN MENA, said: “In times of crisis, the power of solidarity and compassion becomes even more significant and sports’ transformative power to uplift and support cannot be underestimated. BeIN hopes that sharing our coverage can provide much-needed relief, albeit temporarily, for people that have experienced immense suffering, while underscoring our dedication to fostering unity, resilience, and hope.”
This initiative aligns with beIN Sports’ broader commitment to ensuring major tournaments are accessible to all. It serves as an extension of beIN’s pledge to make the beautiful game more inclusive, following their successful broadcast of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in dedicated fan zones across the MENA region, including Palestine, specifically for displaced people.
