'Time Hoppers' features characters that supposedly protect the discoveries of Arab figures such as Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Al-Haytham, Maryam Astrolabe and Mansa Musa.
The Embassy of Canada in Saudi Arabia hosted the premiere of Time Hoppers, a Canadian children’s adventure film that celebrates the scientific and cultural legacy of Arab civilisations. The film’s simultaneous launch in Riyadh and Jeddah marked a milestone in cultural exchange and creative collaboration between Canada and Saudi Arabia.
Blending Canadian filmmaking expertise with stories rooted in the heritage and values of the Arab and Muslim world, Time Hoppers follows four young heroes who embark on time-traveling adventures to protect the discoveries of historical figures such as Al-Khwarizmi, the father of algebra; Ibn Al-Haytham, the pioneer of optics; Maryam Astrolabe, the astronomer and engineer; and Mansa Musa, the visionary ruler of Mali. Through these encounters, the film introduces children to the lasting influence of Arab and Muslim innovators whose ideas continue to shape modern science and culture.
With themes centered on teamwork, curiosity and problem-solving, Time Hoppers encourages young audiences to value knowledge and envision themselves as the inventors and leaders of the future. The premiere also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s emergence as a growing hub for cultural innovation and international creative partnerships in film and entertainment.
Jean-Philippe Linteau, Canada’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, said: “Time Hoppers helps children — especially Muslim youth — see themselves on screen by sharing diverse role models. As one of the most diverse countries in the world, Canada is proud to support filmmakers that create such inclusive stories.”
Following its debut in Saudi Arabia, Time Hoppers will roll out across 200 theaters in the Middle East and North Africa in both English and Arabic, before expanding internationally to more than 500 theaters in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada in February 2026.
