This year, CineGouna Market will be more focused on the MENA region’s production, and distribution companies.
As part of the seventh edition of the El Gouna Film Festival (GFF), CineGouna Market is set to foster partnerships between industry players, including production companies, post-production studios, distributors and film institutes from Egypt, Lebanon, Sudan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and beyond. Running from October 26 to 30, the market aims to facilitate networking and collaboration with an expanded and versatile setup for discussions, meetings and interactions.
Building on the success of the sixth edition, led by CineGouna Film Market Head Mohammad Taymour, the platform has evolved significantly, hosting 22 exhibitors this year, up from 19 in 2023. The increased participation signals the growing importance of the CineGouna Market as a hub for industry stakeholders.
The 2024 edition will focus more on production and distribution companies in the MENA region, with a vision to strengthen the film industry by fostering collaboration between regional and international players.
Amr Mansi, Co-founder and Executive Director of GFF, said: “GFF has consistently emerged as a leading force in the film industry, both locally and regionally. CineGouna Market was created to bridge the gap between regional and international forces, fostering cross-cultural synergies.”
Marianne Khoury, Artistic Director of GFF, added: “CineGouna Market was designed to foster matchmaking opportunities under one platform, by inviting production and distribution companies, sales agencies, VOD Platforms, festival programmers, industry organisations and institutions to showcase their line-ups, projects, services and new technologies.”
The CineGouna Market continues to attract interest from potential collaborators via the GFF website, under the leadership of Mohammad Taymour. This year’s event will also feature the “Emerge Corner,” where emerging talents from the CineGouna Emerge initiative can network and participate in masterclasses designed exclusively for them.
