CineGouna Shorts has announced the winners of its inaugural production grants. A new section within the industry arm of the ElGouna Film Festival, CineGouna Shorts is dedicated to elevating Egyptian short films and championing authentic, local storytelling. This year’s winners, chosen for their artistic innovation and cultural resonance, underscore CineGouna Shorts’ mission to support the voices defining Egypt’s cinematic landscape.
Three unique projects will receive a generous production grant powered by O West, the fully integrated town by Orascom Development. The selection was made by a jury comprising Sherif El Bendary, Sameh Alaa, and May Odeh. The winners of the 2024 CineGouna Shorts Production Grants Winners are In Such Moments We Cry (first place; EGP1,000,000); The Last Wish (second place; EGP750,000) and Lemon Trees (third place; EGP500,000). In addition to the three official awards, a special jury award in the form of mentorship and development sessions to support a promising project was given to Dead Tired.
