Cinema Akil, Dubai’s only independent cinema, has announced the exclusive release of Academy Award nominee The Man Who Sold His Skin directed by Kaouther Ben Hania. The film weaves socio-political issues, including the refugee crisis and human rights concerns, while also touching on the world of contemporary art, and the contradictions in between. The film stars Syrian actor Yahya Mahayni, French actress Dea Liane, Belgian actor Koen De Bouw and Italian starlet Monica Bellucci.
The film will run solely and exclusively at Cinema Akil during the month of Ramadan with a special outdoor preview screening on April 14, 2021, in collaboration with Alserkal ahead of the April 25 Oscars ceremony in Hollywood.
The outdoor season will take place in ‘The Yard at Alserkal Avenue’. It will conclude with the two film screening in April that includes Casablanca directed by Michael Curtiz, until April 5 and the cult classic Academy Award-winning documentary, Buena Vista Social Club, directed by Wim Wenders about the music of Cuba. The film will be a central event during What the Food in Alserkal Avenue on April 7 and 8.
