Headquartered in Dubai, Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group becomes the UAE’s first cricket-focused digital media house.
Danube Group has expanded into digital sports media with the launch of Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group, marking the conglomerate’s entry into a new business vertical. The platform is led by the Group’s vice chairman, Anis Sajan, who is widely known across the region as “Mr. Cricket UAE”.
The move signals a strategic shift for Danube Group, which has traditionally focused on real estate, retail, building materials and hospitality. By entering the fast-growing digital sports media space, the Group is seeking to diversify its portfolio while aligning with evolving consumer trends and the rising global appetite for sports-driven digital content.
The official launch in Dubai brought together several prominent figures from the international cricketing community, including Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, JP Duminy, Fakhar Zaman, Angelo Mathews, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid and Khurram Khan, underscoring the platform’s global ambitions and strong industry backing.
Speaking at the launch, Sajan said the new venture represents both a professional milestone and a personal journey shaped by decades of involvement with the sport. He noted that as the UAE continues to establish itself as a global hub for cricket, the new platform aims to deliver premium content, compelling storytelling and exclusive access for fans around the world.
Headquartered in Dubai, Mr. Cricket UAE Media Group becomes the country’s first dedicated cricket digital media house. While its initial focus will be entirely on cricket, leveraging the UAE’s deep connection to the sport and Sajan’s international network, the company plans to gradually expand into coverage of other major sports. Over time, it is expected to evolve into a broader multi-sport digital platform.
The platform will offer a wide range of content, including live and real-time coverage, exclusive interviews with international players, premium video productions, studio-based shows, short-form social content, documentary-style features and behind-the-scenes insights from leagues around the world.
The launch comes at a time when the UAE has strengthened its reputation as a key destination for international cricket, having hosted major events such as the T20 World Cup, Asia Cup, ILT20, T10 leagues and numerous bilateral series. The new media venture adds a content and storytelling dimension to the country’s existing role as a major host of the sport.
Sajan highlighted the UAE’s diverse population and its strong cricket culture, driven by communities from South Asia alongside fans from England, Australia, South Africa and other cricket-playing nations. He said establishing a world-class cricket media platform in the UAE would help cement the country’s role not only as a venue for matches, but also as a centre for how the sport is experienced and consumed.
As Danube Group continues to broaden its business horizons, the entry into digital sports media reflects its long-term strategy of diversification, innovation and community engagement. For Sajan, however, the venture remains deeply personal, emphasising that cricket has been a lifelong passion rather than a purely commercial pursuit.
