The sports brand will span the group’s new discovery+ OTT service, as well as its flagship Eurosport channels and digital properties.
Discovery has launched a new corporate brand to represent its sports brands, channels and platforms. According to the broadcaster, its sports offerings reach an audience of 130m a month across free-to-air, pay-TV, streaming and online.
Andrew Georgiou will serve as Discovery’s president of sport, leading the full portfolio of the group’s sports brand and businesses. Georgiou will continue to report to Discovery International chief executive Jean-Briac Perrette and will add responsibility for GolfTV and Golf Digest to his existing remit.
The move showcases Discovery’s combined strength in sports media, from Discovery Plus to its free-to-air channels in Europe, as well as Eurosport.
