The goal is to explore multiple uses across different categories and content types to deliver a personalised, dynamic feed.
Disney+ is set to introduce short-form vertical video content, marking a significant shift in how the streaming service engages viewers. The new feature will showcase a mix of original short-form productions, repurposed clips from Disney’s extensive content library, and highlight moments from its TV shows and films, all optimised for quick and easy viewing.
Disney confirmed that vertical video will debut on Disney+ following the positive reception of “Verts,” a similar feature previously launched on the ESPN app. According to the company, the experience will continue to evolve as it expands across news and entertainment, with a strong emphasis on personalisation to deliver a more dynamic and engaging user experience. Disney said the initiative is designed to reinforce Disney+ as a daily destination rather than a platform used only for long-form viewing.
The plans were unveiled during Disney’s Tech and Data showcase at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, where executives explained that the short-form feed is intended to increase everyday engagement with the platform. Personalisation will play a central role, with content tailored to individual user preferences, viewing habits and interests.
Disney’s earlier experimentation with vertical video through ESPN’s “Verts” focused on personalised sports highlights. With Disney+, the company is expanding the concept to include entertainment, news and fan-driven content, aiming to capture the frequent, habitual viewing associated with platforms such as TikTok and Instagram Reels while maintaining a premium streaming environment.
