This year as part of its 5th anniversary celebrations, Documentary Voices will explore the meaning of national identity through a cinematic experience.
French filmmaker Valerie Osoufs work L Identite Nationale will be screened on Tuesday, 27th November 2012 at the Knowledge Village Conference Centre (Auditorium) at 7.00 pm. Following the screening, there will be a Q & A session with the films director.
This invitation only event is taking place with the support of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) and in association with the Alliance Francaise of Dubai.
Documentary Voices chose National Identity as this years headline because we want to show and motivate our multicultural youngsters to narrate their own version of national identity through meaningful and creative angles. In keeping with the theme of the event, When Clouds Come Down by Moein Karimodini will be screened at 8.00 pm on Wednesday, 28 November 2012. Tim Kennedys Floating Life of Dubai Creek will close the 3 day event on Thursday 29 November 2012.
Also joining the programmes 5th edition is Fara Marz Shahbazian, the Iranian-American theater and film writer and producer. The 2 day workshop is aimed at teaching young adults to become professional filmmakers and will focus on script writing to discussion on film topics from Premise and Synopsis to Character. The workshop commences on Wednesday, 28 November 2012 from 3.30 pm till 7.30 pm at the Alliance Francaise in Oud Mehta.
With the National Day celebrations round the corner, Documentary Voices aims to see more enthusiasm in the near future from school, college students and our talented community to produce high quality documentaries from the UAE, added Zamani.
