Doha Film Institute (DFI) has introduced The Ajyal Show, a bilingual podcast curated by Ajyal Film Festival alumni and interns of the Institute. This initiative aims to unite communities through the transformative influence of film.
Offering an exploration into the realm of creativity and cinematic expression, The Ajyal Show endeavours to bridge cultural divides and link aspiring creatives, storytellers, and cinema enthusiasts with the insights and experiences of local and regional experts. Through engaging discussions, the podcast delves into the art of storytelling, emphasising cinema’s role in addressing global issues.

The bi-weekly podcast, moderated by Moza Al-Hajri, an Ajyal Juror since 2016, promises fresh perspectives on contemporary issues through the lens of cinema. Al-Hajri, a prominent public speaker and advocate for culture and youth empowerment, will engage with influential guests worldwide, exploring impactful narratives that shape society.
The inaugural episode of The Ajyal Show featured Mariam Al-Dhubhani, a Yemeni-Russian journalist and filmmaker whose journey into filmmaking began with a DFI workshop. Available on the @AjyalFilm YouTube channel, the episode delves into the healing and transformative power of storytelling, showcasing cinema as a tool for overcoming challenges.
Season one of The Ajyal Show will showcase inspiring episodes with local and regional guests, including filmmaker Amal Al-Muftah, writer Fahad Al-Kuwari, producer Jana Wehbe, and others. New episodes will be released every two weeks, offering viewers a glimpse into Qatar’s creative community and its global impact.
