The Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC) has launched its official Instagram page as a tool to showcase Dubai’s diverse locations.
DFTC has also announced a competition on its new Instagram page, for students, aspiring filmmakers and photographers, to win a post-production professional course during CABSAT next month.
The competition starts from 25 February 3 March, under the theme Dubai As You See It, where participants are requested to capture any of Dubai’s locations including: malls, souks, markets, shops, parks, gardens, desert, sea, skyscrapers, interiors, hotels, mosques, old villages, museums, airport or racecourse.
Participants are required to post images on their own Instagram pages and tag DFTCs official Instagram page @FilmDubai using the hashtag #FilmDubai and mentioning the location they have shot the image from. An internal jury at DFTC will select the winner, and post their Dubai-focused image on its social media platforms. The winner will be announced on 4 March, and will have the opportunity to attend a professional post-production workshop during CABSAT from 10-11 March 2015.
Commenting on the initiative, Jamal Al Sharif, Chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission said: “The competition is designed to create a challenge for young talents to showcase Dubai’s diverse and magnificent locations, from projects, parks, buildings, malls or hotels. The Emirate is a true cutting-edge hub for filmmakers, with robust and advanced infrastructure, services and facilities to produce top class films or TV productions, and it is our role to showcase this to the world.
“We are always on the look for new initiatives that encourage generation to grow and form a strong pool of local talent that will attract production companies from around the world. This particular competition offers a great opportunity for the winner, to attend a training course at the leading CABSAT Exhibition, with professional filmmakers and industry leaders to learn and communicate directly with them.”
