Nominations for the Arab Media Award are open to individuals and media organisations from across the Arab world.
The Dubai Press Club has announced the opening of submissions for the 25th edition of the Arab Media Award, held annually under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, and under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
The announcement, made by the General Secretariat of the Award, coincides with the award’s silver jubilee, marking 25 years of honouring excellence in Arab media. Since its inception in 1999, the award has earned a reputation as the most prestigious platform for recognising talent and innovation across the Arab world, reflecting the sector’s evolution and its growing global influence.
Submissions are open in two main categories — the Arab Journalism Award and the Visual Media Award — both designed to celebrate outstanding professional achievements that have advanced Arab media. The Arab Media Award has long been recognised for its rigorous evaluation standards, commitment to transparency, and integrity, with thousands of entries received each year from across the region.
Dr Maitha Buhumaid, Secretary-General of the Arab Media Award, said the 25th edition represents a significant milestone in the award’s ongoing journey of promoting media excellence. She emphasised that under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the award has become a vital platform uniting leading figures in journalism and media. “Over a quarter of a century, the award has embodied an integrated system of professional values rooted in the highest standards of integrity and transparency,” she said. “As we open nominations for this new cycle, we remain committed to keeping pace with rapid changes in the industry and reflecting the innovative spirit shaping the future of Arab media.”
Dr Buhumaid added that the award’s silver jubilee is a celebration of 25 years of success and an open invitation for Arab media professionals to contribute to a new chapter of creativity and excellence. She reaffirmed that the initiative aims to strengthen the role of media as a bridge for cultural dialogue and a foundation for sustainable progress.
Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, said the Arab Media Award’s continued success over the past 25 years is a source of pride and a reflection of Dubai’s creative vision. “The award fosters a culture of creativity in Arab media and sends a clear message to new generations that excellence is born from bold ideas and informed perspectives,” she said. “This edition reaffirms our commitment to empowering Arab media to reach its full potential and contribute meaningfully to shaping the future.”
Jasim Al Shemsi, Director of the Arab Media Award, announced that the deadline for submissions is January 17, 2026, noting that the award continues to serve as a strategic initiative supporting exceptional media achievements. “Since its inception, the award has been more than an annual tradition — it is a project that strengthens the role of media in advancing the aspirations of Arab societies,” he said. “As we celebrate 25 years, we are confident that the award will continue to lead Arab media toward new horizons.”
The Arab Journalism Award features four sub-categories: Political Journalism, Economic Journalism, Investigative Reporting, and Best Columnist, the last of which is selected by the Award’s Board of Directors based on strict professional criteria. The Visual Media Award includes five categories: Best Economic Programme, Best Social Programme, Best Cultural Programme, Best Documentary Project, and Best Sports Programme.
Additionally, the award presents a special honour — ‘Media Personality of the Year’ — chosen by the Board of Directors to recognise an influential media figure whose work has significantly enriched the Arab media landscape.
Entries for the Arab Media Award are open to individuals and organisations across the Arab world through the official website. All submissions will undergo a comprehensive evaluation process adhering to the highest levels of integrity and transparency. Winners will be honoured at a ceremony held as part of the Arab Media Summit in Dubai.
