The distribution of 'Overcast' is being managed by MAD Solutions.
Following its world premiere at the Sharm El-Sheikh Film Festival, Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Hosny Yassin’s debut short film, Overcast, is set to compete in the Egyptian Short Film Competition at the fifth edition of the Cairo International Short Film Festival. The festival, hosted at the Cairo Opera House, is set to continue until December 22.
Scheduled for screening on Thursday, December 21, at 7:15 pm, Overcast unfolds the story of Diab, who, upon returning to his village with a new spouse, goes to great lengths to conceal her existence, even restricting her from social interactions. As circumstances evolve, Diab is compelled to seek assistance from his neighbours, prompting an emergency that challenges his deep-seated convictions about manhood and radical ideologies.
Distributed by MAD Solutions, the film boasts a stellar cast including Lobna Wanas, Ali Shawky, Dalia Ramzi, Mary Girgis, and Emad Maher. Yassin, an Egyptian filmmaker with a background as a member of the Egyptian Cinema Syndicate and years of independent work in the video content industry, directs Overcast.
Yassin’s filmmaking journey began at the High Cinema Institute, where he founded MHY Films and produced numerous advertisements and music videos. His initial foray into documentary filmmaking, When People are Satisfied!, produced by the High Cinema Institute in 2019, garnered widespread acclaim, earning several awards, including the prestigious National Film Festival Award for Best Documentary Film.
