The festival will be held without any celebrations, underscoring El Gouna Film Festival's continued solidarity with the Palestinian people.
In a recent development, the sixth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) has undergone an official rescheduling, now set to take place from December 14 to 21. Originally slated for October 13 to 20 and later shifted to October 27 to November 2, the festival organisers have finalised the new dates.
In an effort to diversify its offerings, this edition of GFF will feature a special programme dedicated to Palestinian cinema. In collaboration with the Palestine Film Institute, the programme aims to bring attention to the current situation and challenging conditions in Gaza, highlighting the power of storytelling to shed light on important global issues.
Notably, a fundraising dinner is on the agenda as part of the festival, with the objective of collecting donations for humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza. The festival organisers are partnering with the Egyptian Red Crescent to ensure the effective coordination of these relief efforts. It’s emphasised that the festival will be held without traditional celebrations, underscoring El Gouna Film Festival’s solidarity with the Palestinian people during these trying times.
