Etere worked together with its distributor, ARET video and engineering to launch this project for Oromia Broadcasting Network.
Ethiopia’s public service broadcaster, Oromia Broadcasting Network (OBN), has embarked on a major digital transformation by implementing the advanced Etere Ecosystem, an integrated software solution designed to streamline broadcast operations and elevate content delivery standards. OBN adopts automation, artificial intelligence and centralised workflow management to enhance agility and efficiency across its media infrastructure.
The modernisation project was carried out in collaboration with Etere’s distributor, ARET Video and Engineering, and represents a milestone in OBN’s mission to strengthen its technological backbone. The Etere Ecosystem offers a fully customisable and scalable suite of interconnected software modules that manage every stage of the broadcast process, from content creation and scheduling to playout and archiving.
Among the key components deployed at OBN is Etere Media Asset Management (MAM), which centralises control of all media assets and automates complex workflows, ensuring seamless coordination between departments. Equipped with AI-powered tools such as face recognition, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), automated speech-to-text transcription, and content censorship, the system boosts both productivity and precision. It also tracks costs, approvals and licensing rights in real time.
Etere Web and its Floating License model provide flexible, remote access to the entire ecosystem, enabling multiple users to share concurrent licenses and work from anywhere. The T-Workflow module allows users to design, visualise and optimise workflows at lightning speed, while Etere Multichannel Editor and Etere Ingest support real-time channel management and content ingestion from multiple sources.
To enhance operational reliability, OBN has integrated Etere Resource Management for scheduling and task optimisation, Etere SNMP Console for centralised monitoring and automatic recovery of downtime, and Etere Tapeless Reception to securely manage digital content transfers.
Additional tools such as Etere Transcoder, Etere Media Manager, Etere Proxy Browsing and Etere Executive Scheduling ensure seamless media handling, file conversions and scheduling efficiency. Meanwhile, Etere Automation and its backup system safeguard uninterrupted broadcast continuity with multi-level fault tolerance, supporting resolutions up to 4K.
The Etere suite also features specialized modules like Etere Subtitles Tool for multilingual captioning, Etere QC for automated quality checks, Etere Memory for compliance recording and Etere HSM for unified archive management across various storage platforms. Integration with Davinci Resolve further enhances the editing process, allowing creators to finalize sequences directly within the Etere system.
By implementing the Etere Ecosystem, OBN aims to redefine the way Ethiopian audiences experience broadcast content, ensuring faster workflows, higher reliability and a stronger connection between technology and creativity. The transformation not only positions OBN as a leader in modern broadcasting within Ethiopia but also aligns the network with global standards of digital media management and automation.
