Following news reports last evening that beIN sports channels have been taken off the du network in the UAE, the country’s other telco operator, Etisalat has confirmed that the FIFA World Cup packages from beIN are available on its platform.
Etisalat sources confirmed to BroadcastPro ME that all services are up and running on its platform. Subscribers may avail of the World Cup packages through Etisalat for AED 555 (approx $150).
Last evening, beIN Media Group’s sports channels were taken off the du platform.
A statement on the du web site said: We regret to inform that our customers are temporarily unable to view beIN sports channels and packages. We are working with our partner to restore broadcasting beIN sports channels.
Although there were further FAQs on the du web site stating that subscribers would not be charged for the period that the sports channels were not available on du, those have now been taken off from the web site.
beIN Sports has the exclusive broadcast rights to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia and several other premium sports content for the MENA region. The network will dedicate six channels to broadcast all 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia matches. This will include beIN SPORTS MAX 1 and beIN SPORTS MAX 2 in Arabic, beIN SPORTS MAX 3 in English and beIN SPORTS MAX 4 in French. As this is the first time in history that the FIFA World Cup welcomes four Arab countries, namely Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia, beIN SPORTS MENA will follow each Arab team through their competition, as well as all other major international football teams.
