The film festival will honour Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen for her long career and achievement in the film industry.
The fifth edition of the Aswan International Women Film Festival will take place from May 24-30, 2021, the festival’s organisers have announced.
The festival was initially expected to take place in February; however, the dates were moved due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
During this edition, the organiser intends to announce the results of the referendum organised by the festival that aims to select the best 100 Arab films created by women or that revolves around women issues.
The opening ceremony of the film festival will honour Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen, awarding her the Isis Achievement Award for her long career and achievement in the film industry.
Shaheen was the honorary president of the festival’s first edition, which took place in February 2017.
