Engineer Naguib Sawiris, Founder of GFF, added: “El Gouna Film Festival has been a cornerstone of artistic expression and cultural enrichment in the region. As we embark on the seventh edition of the festival, we have been receiving strong interest from significant players in the field of cinema from other regions such as the USA, China, India, and others to participate in GFF and we look forward to continuing to serve as a dynamic platform for filmmakers and industry professionals from around the world to connect with, collaborate, and inspire Egyptian and regional cinema.”
Amr Mansi, Executive Director of GFF, highlighted the success of last year’s industry-focused activities within the Festival Plaza, envisioning further enhancements for the upcoming edition. “The centralisation of all industry-focused activities within the Festival Plaza last year transformed it into a dynamic hub where industry professionals converged to network and forge potential collaborations. Inspired by its success, and with our sights set on the seventh edition, I am optimistic that we will further enhance the festival experience, fostering an even more vibrant and inclusive platform for industry stakeholders. We’re also working on developing the new sections that we created last year, such as CineGouna Market.”
GFF 2024 promises to offer an enriching cinematic experience, comprising a curated selection of compelling films, insightful panel discussions, masterclasses, and other immersive industry events. As preparations unfold, the festival remains steadfast in its mission to celebrate the transformative power of storytelling and to champion the voices of filmmakers from the MENA region and beyond.
Marianne Khoury, Artistic Director of GFF, commented: “Navigating through the ever-evolving landscape of cinema, El Gouna Film Festival has continually pushed boundaries, spotlighting diverse voices and narratives. As we prepare for the seventh edition, we remain committed to offering an inclusive space for encouraging dialogue, creativity, and collaboration. Besides, we will expand the experience of the CineGouna Emerge, which we launched last year.”
