The Red Sea Labs has announced a collaboration with Series Mania, Europe’s premier series festival, offering an opportunity for six participants from its Series Lab to pitch their projects to industry professionals in the city of Lille, France. The event will run until March 22, 2024.
At the Series Mania event, six outstanding projects developed through the Red Sea Series Lab will take centre stage. These carefully curated projects will engage in pitching sessions and connect with industry experts, fostering networking opportunities.
One of the highlighted projects is Our Son is Prettier, a comedy series co-created by Saudi-American director Hanaa Saleh Alfassi, Mana Almajd, and Jade. Delving into familial dynamics and societal expectations in Saudi Arabia, this series promises to offer a fresh perspective on love and identity.
Another standout project is Insight, a crime series crafted by Ahmed Alghamdi. Exploring the eerie realm of nightmares and their unsettling connection to reality, Insight promises to intrigue audiences with its narrative.
Adding to the lineup is Namnam, a dark comedy series penned by Yaser Bin Abdulrahman, offering a glimpse into the life of Hassan, a young introvert in Mecca, whose life takes an unexpected turn following a tragic incident.
Further projects include Eye of the Kite, a limited series from Saudi Arabia, written by Saleh Al-Hamad. With its exploration of guilt, redemption, and the human experience, Eye of the Kite aims to captivate viewers with its storytelling.
Also featured is The Bandit, a drama series written by Aziz Madhi, transporting audiences to the Arabian Peninsula in 1901, where the protagonist navigates loyalty and morality amidst a changing landscape.
Rounding out the selection is The Runaway, a poignant dramedy series by Abeer Amer, following the journey of Rawan as she breaks free from societal constraints and embarks on a journey of self-discovery in modern Riyadh.
