The docudrama, written and directed by Kaouther Ben Hania, follows the Palestinian Red Crescent’s efforts after five-year-old Hind Rajab was killed amid the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip.
Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania’s latest film, The Voice of Hind Rajab, will be released in cinemas across the UAE on December 18, 2025. The film will have its public premiere a day earlier at Cinema Akil on December 17, followed by a nationwide rollout in Vox Cinemas and Reel Cinemas.
The opening screening at Cinema Akil will include a question-and-answer session with members of the cast and crew, offering audiences insight into the making of the film and its subject matter.
Selected as Tunisia’s official submission for the 98th Academy Awards, the docudrama tells the true and devastating story of Hind Rajab, a six-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed by Israeli fire in Gaza. The film reconstructs her final hours, drawing on real voice recordings of Hind and Palestinian Red Crescent workers who attempted to rescue her after she made an emergency call on January 29, 2024, while trapped in a car under heavy fire.
Since its debut in Venice, The Voice of Hind Rajab has continued to build international momentum, securing selections at major film festivals including Toronto, Chicago, Cairo and London.
A Tunisian-French co-production, the film blends documentary elements with dramatic storytelling to portray a real-life tragedy. It follows Hind after she becomes stranded in a car amid intense shelling, having lost her family, and captures the desperate efforts of rescue teams trying to reach her in perilous conditions. By incorporating the original audio from Hind’s call for help, Ben Hania creates a powerful and haunting cinematic work that turns the child’s voice into a symbol of innocence confronted by extreme violence.
The film has also earned a nomination for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, further underscoring its critical recognition on the global stage.
