According to the report, AVOD revenues for TV series and movies will reach $69bn by 2029, up by $30bn from $39bn in 2023.
The global revenues for Over-The-Top (OTT) TV episodes and movies are projected to reach $215bn by the year 2029, according to the latest report by Digital TV Research.
This substantial increase marks a $53bn, constituting a significant growth rate of 33%, compared to the $162bn recorded in 2023.
The US will remain the dominant territory by some distance. Its share of global revenues will be 38% by 2029; down from 46% in 2023. Despite this dip, experts predicted a substantial increase of $8bn in US revenues from 2023, reaching a substantial $82bn.
SVOD will remain the principal OTT revenue source, growing by $19bn between 2023 and 2029 to $127bn. AVOD revenues will grow faster than SVOD.
Commenting on the findings of the report, Simon Murray, Principal Analyst at Digital TV Research, said: “AVOD revenues for TV series and movies will reach $69bn by 2029, up by $30bn from $39bn in 2023. These figures are lower than our previous edition due to the global advertising slowdown and slower than expected rollouts of hybrid AVOD-SVOD platforms by the US major platforms.”
