Pre-production for this new 100-hour series has already begun, and shooting will commence in the Spring of 2024 in Turkey.
Mumbai-headquartered sales house GoQuest Media has entered into a strategic partnership with Miami-based VIP 2000 TV to co-produce and distribute the upcoming Turkish series, Kuma (The Other Wife). The collaboration marks a venture between two non-Turkish entities working together to produce a premium daily Turkish series.
The series, to be produced by Stellar Yapım, an independent Turkish production company founded by Inci Gülen Oarr, renowned for her role as the showrunner of Elif, will delve into the story of a young woman from eastern Turkey. Faced with circumstances, she is compelled to become a “kuma” – a second wife, to the brother of the man she is accused of killing.
Preproduction for the 100-hour series has already commenced, with filming scheduled to begin in spring 2024 in Turkey.
Roxana Rotundo, CEO of VIP 2000 TV, said: “We are extremely pleased to be working with Inci Gulen Oarr on this project. We have been waiting to get involved in our own Turkish project, but we needed it to be unique and different from the rest; in a market where there is so much competition, we needed an IP that would have a fascinating story, and we found Kuma.”
Gülen Oarr, CEO of Stellar Yapım, added: “We’re lucky to have viewers around the world. An international collaboration like this only makes sense. These days, Turkish drama is truly global content.”
Vivek Lath, GoQuest Media’s managing director, stated: “The current market dynamics reveal a valuable shift toward a B2B licensing model, and we are therefore strategically transitioning to produce and license content. Partnering with VIP 2000 TV and Stellar Yapim, leaders in their respective fields, reinforces this new direction and ensures that we have the best allies as we navigate and capitalise on these market shifts.”
The collaboration between GoQuest Media, VIP 2000 TV, and Stellar Yapım underscores a strategic shift towards content production and licensing, aligning with the evolving dynamics of the industry.
