Following its success and recognition at the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival, Ahmed Haddad’s feature film, As for the Weather, is set to screen at the Hanager Cinema in the Cairo Opera House on Monday, November 13, at 6 pm, as part of the Mediterranean Cinema Club.
The screening will be held in the presence of the director, Ahmed Haddad, who will engage in an open discussion on the film and its underlying themes.
Prior to winning the jury award at the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival, “As for the Weather” enjoyed a successful commercial release in Syrian cinemas.
As for the Weather unfolds a tale of personal transformation, centring around Hussien Shawqy, a man navigating life in the shadows of his ex-wife, Mona. The narrative takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of Souad, a spirited and vibrant young woman who becomes the catalyst for breaking free from self-imposed isolation and embracing the true essence of life.
Together, Hussien and Souad embark on a remarkable journey, creating a documentary that delves deep into the lives of three diverse women, unravelling their stories and shedding light on their experiences.
Written and directed by Ahmed Haddad, the film stars Kariman Hegazy, Hanan Youssef, director Hassan El-Geretly, and Dalia Ramzy, along with guest stars Riham Abdel-Ghafour and Tharaa Goubail. MAD Solutions is handling the distribution in the Arab world.
Ahmed Haddad is a multifaceted artist, excelling as an actor, director, screenplay writer, and poet. His journey in cinema began with his debut as the character Tarek in the film Spare Times. In 2008, he launched his directorial career with “ll Girls Love Chocolate, starring singer Anouchka. Haddad’s diverse career includes appearances in the series Hot Wave in 2013 and the direction of seven short films, such as Remote Control, 1984, and Spirit Burner.
As for the Weather stands as Ahmed Haddad’s debut feature.
