Produced by Al-Hajjaj’s House of Comedy, Black Light Operations, and Muvi Studios, the comedy will star Ibrahim Al-Hajjaj, and is being directed by British filmmaker Colin Teague.
IMAX revealed plans for its first Arabic-language feature film, Ambulance, at the opening of a new cinema in Jeddah. The comedy will star Saudi actor and comedian Ibrahim Al-Hajjaj. Directed by British filmmaker Colin Teague and produced by Al-Hajjaj’s House of Comedy, Saudi producer Talal Anazi’s Black Light Operations, and Muvi Studios, the film will be released on April 17, 2025.
Speaking to Arab News, IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond said that the long-term plan in Saudi Arabia was to “not only build a significant theater network, but also lean into the content side.” However, Ambulance is not the company’s first film venture. IMAX has been involved in projects in other Middle Eastern countries, such as Journey to Mecca and Fires of Kuwait.
The new screen, opened in partnership with Saudi Arabi’s Muvi Cinemas, is the first of four new IMAX screens the company plans to open across the Kingdom, as part of its agreement with Muvi Cinemas. The next IMAX screen is set to open at Mall of Dhahran in February, followed by U Walk in Riyadh.
