Iranian drama film Fear and Trembling by Manijeh Hekmat and Faeze Azizkhani will have its world premiere at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) running from November 20 – 28, in Goa, India. The feature is also among the 15 films competing for the prestigious Golden Peacock award at the 55th edition of IFFI. This year’s selection features 12 international films and three Indian films, each chosen for their distinct perspectives, artistry, and powerful storytelling. The line-up showcases the best of both global and Indian cinema, with each film offering a unique exploration of human values. Other participating titles from MENA include Turkish film Gulizar, Tunisia’s Red Path and Who Do I Belong To, a joint Tunisian and Canadian production.
The films will be judged by an esteemed jury led by renowned Indian filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, along with award-winning Singaporean director Anthony Chen, British-American producer Elizabeth Karlsen, Spanish producer Fran Borgia, and legendary Australian film editor Jill Bilcock. The jury will award honours in multiple categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Male), Best Actor (Female), and the Special Jury Prize. The winning film will receive a cash prize of nearly $50,000 and one of the festival’s highest accolades.
This year’s selections span a wide range of themes and genres, taking audiences on a journey into new realms, challenging perceptions, and elevating fresh voices in world cinema.
