First time a woman has won the Transilvania festival's top award, marking a historic night in Cluj.
Iranian filmmaker Dornaz Hajiha’s debut film, Like a Fish on the Moon, won the Best Film award at the 22nd edition of the Transylvania International Film Festival.
Hajiha’s win marked a historic night for the festival, as it was the first time that the top award went to women.
In addition, the film’s star Sepidar Tari was selected as the Best Actress.
The film is a family drama that explores the emotional fallout experienced by two parents when their young son suddenly stops talking. Haleh and her husband Amir are facing a difficult situation: their four-year-old son Ilya has suddenly stopped talking. Various professional consultations reveal no physiological cause, so a psychotherapist comes up with an unusual solution. The boy’s mother, who has cared for him until now, is to take a back seat while the father assumes her role looking after the child. The tension generated by this change to their daily life only intensifies until the family gradually starts to lose control.
