Italia Film has propelled Disney’s market share in KSA to 21%, with Warner Bros. in second place at 14%.
Italia Film, a major USA/European independent film distributor for the Middle East in addition to being the exclusive distributor for Walt Disney Pictures and DreamWorks in the region, has announced that it has sold more than two million movie tickets in Saudi Arabia in 2021.
The total admissions to date in the KSA have reached 9.6m, with an increase of 158% in 2021 (year to date) in comparison with the previous year.
Italia Film has developed a 28-year-old distribution partnership with Disney, as well as with other independent film companies.
It has propelled Disney’s market share in the KSA to 21%, with Warner Bros. in second place at 14%. This milestone achieved in the KSA comes at a time when the company is mourning the death of industry legend Joseph Vincenti, founder of Italia Film on September 7, 2021.
In over 65 years, Joseph Vincenti has been on the frontline of the film industry expansion in the Middle East region and has expanded Italia Film’s distribution footprint into UAE, Egypt, KSA Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, and India.
Italia Film KSA was the first company to obtain a film distribution license in the KSA after a 35-year ban on cinema and has marked this historic change in the Kingdom through a highly publicized first screening of Black Panther on April 18, 2018.
Since then, the industry has developed exponentially in the KSA with currently a total of 42 cinema sites and 404 screens.
Italia Film has been leading the KSA Box Office with the highest-grossing Hollywood movie titled Cruella.
