Doha-based Katara Studios revealed its newest slate of projects during an exclusive showcase at the Red Sea International Film Festival.
Katara presented four new films at the event, its first-ever content roadshow. The first, Sakhr, is a biopic on renowned Arab figure Mohamed Al Sharekh, the creator of Sakhr computers. Feature film Sari and Amira is a fantasy epic film showcasing the power of unity in overcoming challenges. It stars Alex Uloom, Hala Al Turk, Abdelmohsen Al Nemr and Adwa Fahad. Sa3oud Wainah, touted as Qatar’s first commercial feature film, is a mystery thriller. The film features an entirely Qatari cast, including Mishal Al Dosari, Abdulaziz Al Dorani, and Saad Al Naimi. Documentary Anne Everlasting rounded off the showcase. The film seeks to be thought-provoking exploration of timeless human connections, offering insights into shared human experiences through the story of Anne Lorimor. At 89, Lorimor returns to Mount Kilimanjaro to reclaim her title as the oldest person to summit. As she climbs, her past struggles and resilience are revealed, paralleling the challenges of the ascent.
