The festival to be held in Luxor, Egypt, between March 16-22, 2018 is calling for entries for the first National Student Film Competition.

The 7th edition of the Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) is calling for entries for the first National Student Film Competition. The festival held in the historic town of Luxor, Egypt, between March 16-22, 2018, aims to support and encourage African film productions and partnerships between countries across the African continent.
The LAFF administration announced the addition of a new competition to its programme this year that was open to film students and graduates in Egypt. The competition rules stipulate that the director is a student or a graduate of a film school residing in Egypt. The rules also require the film to be a 2017 production with maximum run time of 30 minutes. The deadline for entries is January 20, 2018.
The large number of submissions the festival has been receiving in the past few years from students and graduates of the Higher Institute of Cinema and other film academies in Egypt, made it essential to create such a competition at LAFF, the festival spokesperson stated.
The festival will announce details regarding its 7th edition by the end of January 2018.
