Djerba Arab Film Festival has selected the films for its Official Competition.
MAD Solutions has sent two short films from its distribution slate to Djerba Arab Film Festival in Tunisia, which will run until June 24, 2023.
Ihsen Kammoun’s Road to El Kef and Salma Murad’s Matchstick will be featured in the festival’s Official Competition.
Directed and written by Salma Murad and starring Naif Al-Daferi and Nawwaf Al-Daferi, Matchstick follows the story of Osama — a young man caught in a quarrel between his emotions and memory as he tries to find a thread leading to answers. He tries to awaken the part of himself that gives him reason, but his reasoning is brutal, maybe even abusive.
Meanwhile, Road to El Kef was directed by Ihsen Kammoun Road and features a star-studded Tunisian cast that includes Fares Landoulsi, Ahmed Hafiene, Malek Ben Saad, Sawsen Maalej, Alaa Edine Yacoubi.
The film was shot in the Tunisian city of El Kef and delves into extremely intricate family issues, drawing attention to fragmented families whose members have fragile relationships, and how the children of these families can be easy targets for terrorist groups and organisations.
