During the transition period, MADD will operate with an independent management structure and on an arm's length basis with its shareholders while carrying out all its business as usual.
Turkish distributor MADD Entertainment has confirmed it will continue business as usual while undergoing an ownership change after the Turkish Competition Authority concluded an investigation into practices within the country’s television series production and distribution sector.
In a statement issued, the company acknowledged the investigation by Rekabet Kurumu, which determined that MADD must restructure its shareholding. The distributor, which is currently jointly owned by leading production companies Ay Yapım and Medyapim, will be transferred either to an independent buyer or to one of the two shareholders.
MADD said the ownership change will not affect its day-to-day operations or commercial relationships. The company stressed that all content currently licensed and distributed will continue to be managed without disruption, and that existing and future agreements will remain in place.
During the transition period, MADD will operate under an independent management structure, maintaining full operational independence from its shareholders while continuing its regular activities. The company added that partners and clients are not required to take any action, and that established points of contact will remain unchanged.
The Competition Authority has also imposed financial penalties on Ay Yapım and Medyapim, fining them TRY75m and TRY48m respectively, over what it described as monopolistic distribution practices. The regulator said the measures are intended to create a more competitive and balanced distribution environment for independent companies in Turkey.
Founded in 2018 by Ay Yapım and Medyapim, MADD Entertainment rapidly became a key player in Turkey’s booming drama export market. Turkish series distributed by the company have found audiences across the Middle East, Latin America, Eastern Europe and increasingly in Western territories.
