Son-Mother has won awards at a number of film festivals in Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Britain, Switzerland and Germany.
Mahnaz Mohammadi’s debut feature Son-Mother has been raking in the awards at different film festivals with the most recent wins being at Rome Film Festival. Produced by Dubai-based distributor and CEO of Advanced Media, Kaveh Farnam, the film addresses the impact of tradition on the lives of women in sanctions-gripped Iran, when a young widow is faced with the choice of abandoning her son or succumbing to poverty.
Farnam is also associated with Europe Media Nest and worked with well-known writer-director Mohammad Rasoulof, who wrote the screenplay. Rasoulof is known for making some award-winning films including Manuscripts Don’t Burn and A Man of Integrity. Mahnaz Mohammadi, who is a documentary filmmaker, actor and women’s rights activist.
