MBC Groups video-on-demand (VOD) application, Shahid VOD has been named as one of the best apps of 2017 in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) by the technology company Apple Inc.
Speaking at the annual ASBU BroadcastPro Selevision Summit in November 2017, Sam Barnett, CEO of MBC, said: “Shahid.net has had 10m unique users every month and 26m users during Ramadan. In 2018, we will be commissioning our own exclusive content for Shahid.”
In an end-of-year roundup released by Apples App Store editors, Shahid was chosen as one of the most popular offerings of the year, and was also named the strongest app for VOD viewing in the region.
Launched in 2014, Shahid is the first Arabic VOD service in the world, which offers a large library of TV dramas, programmes and movies in Arabic.
