All projects are being developed by Miramax’s regional Mena+T unit through its regional headquarters in Doha.
Miramax has announced a new collaboration with the Film Committee at Media City Qatar to co-develop film and television projects aimed at elevating Qatar’s presence in the global entertainment industry. The partnership will see the US studio, owned by Qatar’s beIN Media Group and Paramount Global, currently executive producing one original scripted series and one feature film. Among the early developments is an Arabic-language adaptation of Miramax’s 2001 romantic comedy Serendipity.
All titles are being created through Miramax’s regional MENA+T division, headquartered in Doha and led by Lucy Dertavitian. The company said the projects are at different stages of development, with production schedules and release plans to be shared later.
Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman hailed the agreement as a milestone collaboration, emphasising the studio’s commitment to cultivating authentic stories from the Arab world while producing high-quality content with global potential. He added that the partnership deepens the studio’s investment in the region’s creative landscape.
Hassan Al Thawadi, the chairman of the Qatar Film Committee said the Miramax partnership reflects Qatar’s ambition to develop top-tier talent locally and regionally, bringing forward compelling stories from across the Arab world. He noted that working with a major international studio underscores Qatar’s goal of building a world-class film industry in Doha.
