With this agreement, both companies will work together on several media-related issues in order to strengthen their relationship.
MultiChoice Africa Holdings and Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC) have signed a cooperation agreement. Under the MoU signed, the parties intend to create a collaborative partnership for capacity building, benchmarking, and sharing of experience, intellectual property protection, training, and skills development.
Mohammed Edris Mohammed, Director General of Ethiopian Media Authority, attended the signing ceremony in Johannesburg.
The MoU covers MAH and MultiChoice Ethiopia, the local partner, and further provides for future cooperation between MAH and EBC to combat broadcast piracy.
Commenting on the agreement, Feseha Yetagsu Manbegrot, Chief Executive Officer of EBC, said: “We are grateful to sign this MoU. EBC is the oldest and biggest public media in Ethiopia with five television channels and three radio channels. I believe this agreement will strengthen the relationship of both companies based on this MoU, we stand together on various media-related issues.”
MultiChoice commenced operations in Ethiopia 30 years ago and has been at the forefront of the provision of quality sports, education and entertainment content.
Dr Keabetswe Modimoeng, Group Executive: Corporate Affairs and Stakeholder Relations for MultiChoice Africa, added: “This cordial agreement is a giant leap in fostering relations between the two institutions. We view Ethiopia as a strategic market for both our commercial growth and key socio-development initiatives.
