OSN+ is also set to premiere a range of exclusive series this September, including 'FROM' season three, 'Brilliant Minds' and the Turkish drama 'Come What May', along with the feature film 'Wonka'.
OSN+ has announced the exclusive Middle East premiere of The Penguin, the HBO Original limited series. The show will debut on September 20, 2024, with new episodes releasing weekly every Monday starting September 30.
This eight-episode series is a spin-off from Matt Reeves’ critically acclaimed The Batman and delves into the complex character of Oz Cobb, better known as The Penguin.
Set in the aftermath of The Batman, the series portrays Gotham City in disarray after the death of crime lord Carmine Falcone. Seizing the opportunity, Oz Cobb begins his ruthless climb to power, vying for control of Gotham’s underworld. He faces fierce competition from Carmine’s daughter, Sofia Falcone, and the Maroni crime family, led by Salvatore Maroni. The show promises a dark, suspenseful journey filled with power struggles and shifting alliances in Gotham’s criminal underworld.
Speaking about the show, Elie Habib, CEO of OSN+ & Anghami, said: “We are thrilled to debut The Penguin on OSN+, marking one of many content launches to come this year as part of our ongoing commitment to delivering top-tier, world-class entertainment to audiences across the Middle East. With its intense storytelling and incredible cast, The Penguin is the perfect addition to our growing library of must-watch content, and just a small peek into what’s to come for our subscribers this year.”
The Penguin is one of several highly anticipated titles arriving on OSN+ after the platform secured exclusive rights to Max Originals and Warner Bros. Pictures’ feature films for the MENA region. Upcoming titles include Wonka on September 27, Dune II later this year and the series Dune: Prophecy debuting in November.
In addition to The Penguin, OSN+ will launch several premium series in September, including the latest season of the horror drama FROM on September 23. Fans of Turkish drama can look forward to Come What May (Hekayat Zawaj), an Arabic-language drama about betrayal, while the medical drama Brilliant Minds, starring Zachary Quinto, premieres on September 24.
OSN+ subscribers can enjoy The Penguin in 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos through the new Premium Plan, which has seen nearly 47% of new users adopting the service since its launch earlier this summer.
