The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) has announced its 2025 line-up, including the Red Sea Film Foundation-supported feature Dead Dog by Lebanese director Sarah Francis. The festival will run from January 30 to February 9.
Dead Dog tells the story of Walid and Aida, a husband and wife navigating the emotional aftermath of his long absence abroad. As they grapple with unspoken truths and hidden secrets, Aida’s silence about the fate of their beloved dog, Punto, becomes a focal point. The film explores themes of estrangement, trust, and the complexities of marital relationships, set against a backdrop of shifting dynamics and emotional tension.
Sarah Francis, a Beirut-born filmmaker, has worked as a director, editor and content researcher for production companies and regional museums. Dead Dog marks her third feature film and represents her closest approach to the fiction genre.
