The two winning team leaders will earn a residency at a film event in France, with their films being showcased at the RedSeaIFF 2024.
The Red Sea Film Foundation, in partnership with the French Consulate General in Jeddah, the Embassy of France in Saudi Arabia, and Alliance Française, has extended the application deadline for the fourth edition of the 48-Hour Film Challenge. Aspiring filmmakers in Saudi Arabia can now submit their entries until July 7, 2024.
The challenge is open to Saudi nationals and residents aged 18-25. Participants will engage in two days of intensive online workshops and mentorship, including a filmmaking session with Saudi director Faris Godus, a production workshop with Jordanian producer and script consultant Deema Azar, and a scriptwriting and editing workshop with Jordanian filmmaker Amjad Alrasheed.
Following the workshops, teams will have 48 hours to create a film from concept to final edit. Additionally, the French Consulate will provide 15 shortlisted team members with two days of professional workshops in Jeddah and Riyadh, featuring experts from France and Saudi Arabia. These workshops will include short film screenings and industry discussions.
A jury of esteemed filmmakers and industry professionals will select two winners who will be rewarded with a residency at the International Short Films Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, France, in 2025. The winning films will also be showcased at the next edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival in December 2024.
Teams of up to five members are encouraged to apply by July 7, 2024. Submission guidelines are available on the Red Sea Film Foundation’s website.
