The film follows the life of Italian artist and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani and the series of events that changed his life forever
Johnny Depp’s latest directorial project, Modi — Three Days on the Wings of Madness, will premiere at the 72nd San Sebastian Film Festival. The film, supported by the Red Sea Film Foundation through its Red Sea International Film Financing initiative, marks Depp’s return to the festival after receiving the Donostia Award for lifetime achievement in 2021.
The San Sebastian Film Festival will run from September 20 to 28.
Modi, a biopic of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, unfolds over 72 intense hours in Paris during World War I. The film follows Modigliani as he attempts to end his career and escape the city, only to be thwarted by fellow artists. Al Pacino plays the supporting role of French art collector Maurice Gangnat, who could change the course of Modigliani’s life.
The cast includes Riccardo Scamarcio, Antonia Desplat, Stephen Graham, Bruno Gouery, Ryan McParland, Luisa Ranieri and Sally Phillips. Depp’s European production company, IN.2, leads the production, with Barry Navidi as producer.
This marks Depp’s first directorial effort since The Brave in 1997.
