The actor is reportedly shooting his latest film 'Dunki' directed by Rajkumar Hirani in Jeddah.
Indian actor and producer Shah Rukh Khan will receive an Honorary Award to recognise his contribution to the film industry, during the opening ceremony of the Red Sea International Film Festival’s second edition in Jeddah.
King Khan, as Indian megastar Shah Rukh Khan is affectionately known to his fans, holds a few world records. Among them, his 1995 starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) was the highest-grossing Indian film of that year and one of the most successful Indian films in history. Often imitated, but never replicated DDLJ was placed on the BFI’s list of top Indian films of all time and is considered as the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema. Though clearly interrupted by Covid-19, the film returned in 2021 to the Mumbai cinema recently where it has been playing for the past 27 years.
With over three decades in the film industry and featuring more than 100 films, Khan has crafted an extraordinary career in India and around the world, having earned multiple awards and accolades for his efforts.
Mohammed Al Turki, CEO of RedSeaIFF, said: “We are thrilled to be honouring Shah Rukh Khan, who is a remarkable talent and global superstar. He has captivated audiences since his earliest performances and is one of the world’s most renowned actors working today. After 30 years in the industry, Shah Rukh Khan remains one of the most successful superstars of Indian cinema and is beloved by audiences around the world. We look forward to welcoming him to Jeddah this December.”
Shah Rukh Khan added: “I am truly honoured to receive this award from the Red Sea International Film Festival. It’s wonderful to be here among my fans from Saudi and the region who have always been huge supporters of my films. I’m looking forward to celebrating the region’s talent and being a part of this exciting film community.”
The actor is currently shooting his latest film titled Dunki in Jeddah, where he has been spotted around town. The film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and stars Taapsee Pannu along with Boman Irani.
