All selected projects will compete for the Red Sea Souk cash awards provided by the Red Sea Fund and awarded by the Project Market juries.
The Red Sea Souk, a key initiative of the Red Sea International Film Festival, has issued a final call for submissions for its Project Market, scheduled to run from December 7-11, 2024. This event will coincide with the film festival and showcase 24 projects in various stages of development or production, along with up to 10 films in post-production.
Aimed at promoting international co-productions and discovering emerging talents, the Red Sea Souk Project Market invites industry professionals to participate. The market is open to feature film projects (including fiction, animation, and creative documentaries) led by directors of Saudi, Arab, African or Asian nationality or origin, with a minimum duration of 60 minutes. The deadline for submitting projects in post-production is August 29, 2024.
Selected projects will compete for cash awards provided by the Red Sea Fund, awarded by the Project Market juries. Additional awards funded by sponsors and partners are also available. All projects will be showcased during live pitching sessions and one-on-one meetings with industry guests.
Each selected project team (director and producer) will receive support from an industry mentor to maximise their market experience. This includes both online support before the festival and in-person guidance in Jeddah.
A Book of Projects will be available on the Festival website and distributed to industry guests, enhancing visibility for the projects and teams. The selected project teams will present their work to an industry audience on December 7, 2024, followed by one-on-one meetings from December 8-11, 2024.
Networking events and meetings will provide further opportunities for directors and producers to engage with industry decision-makers. Non-English-speaking filmmakers will have access to interpreter services.
Winners will be announced at the Red Sea Souk Award Ceremony on December 11, 2024. Awards include the Development Award ($30,000), Special Mention Award ($20,000), and Production Award ($75,000).
