The film received support from the Doha Film Institute, OSN+, Media City Qatar and Film Clinic, with the Red Sea Fund serving as an executive producer.
The Royal Film Commission – Jordan (RFC) has hosted a private screening of All That’s Left of You, directed by Cherien Dabis, at Taj Cinemas in the Jordanian capital.
Held under the patronage of HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, Chairman of the RFC Board of Commissioners, the event was attended by HRH Princess Rym Ali, an executive board member, alongside the film’s director, cast and crew representatives, invited guests, journalists and members of the media.
The feature was largely shot in Jordan, with approximately 80% of production completed over six weeks across Amman and the governorates of Balqa, Jerash and Irbid. A total of 125 local crew members were involved, and the project also benefited from the RFC’s cash rebate scheme.
Commenting on the occasion, Muhannad Al-Bakri, Managing Director, RFC, said: “This film is the result of the continuous efforts made by the RFC to support and develop the film industry sector in Jordan, and to enhance the presence and representation of Jordan in the most prominent and important cinematic forums in the world. We are also pleased to announce that the film has been shortlisted at the 2026 Academy Awards, an achievement that was achieved in parallel with the first private screening of the film in Amman yesterday evening, which adds special importance to this occasion and confirms the advanced status that Jordanian cinema has now enjoyed internationally.”
Written and directed by Dabis, an Emmy-nominated filmmaker and actress known for her contributions to Arab American storytelling, the film builds on a career that began with her debut feature Amreeka, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2009 and went on to receive major international recognition.
All That’s Left of You is produced by Thanassis Karathanos alongside Jordanian outfit The Imaginarium Films, led by producer Rula Nasser. The story centres on a Palestinian teenager drawn into a protest in the West Bank, as his mother recounts a multigenerational family history marked by hope, resilience and struggle. The cast includes Saleh Bakri, Adam Bakri, Mohammad Bakri, Cherien Dabis and Maria Zreik.
The film premiered to strong critical response at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and has since collected several major awards at festivals including San Francisco, Sydney, Malaysia and the Red Sea. During the Amman screening, Dabis confirmed that the film has advanced to the shortlist for the 2026 Oscars, with nominations set to be announced on January 22 and the ceremony scheduled for March 16, 2026.
The RFC continues to provide logistical and production support for international, Arab and local film and television projects shot in Jordan, reinforcing the kingdom’s position as a regional production hub.
