French-Moroccan director Roschdy Zem’s Our Ties will screen at six French Institutes around Morocco from late May to mid-June as part of its Moroccan tour. This follows the film’s recent commercial release at Cinema Akil in the UAE.
The Moroccan tour kicked off in El Jadida city on May 31, before moving on to Agadir and Kenitra on June 2. The tour will then continue in several other cities, including Rabat on the 4 and 5, Casablanca on the 11, Marrakech on the 7 and 13, and Meknes on the 9.
Our Ties held its world premiere at the 2022 Venice International Film Festival — where it competed for the Golden Lion Grand Prix — and its Arab World premiere in the 44th Cairo International Film Festival‘s International Panorama Section, and was commercially released in French theatres in November 2022.
Our Ties follows Moussa, who has always been kind, selfless, and there for his family; Unlike his brother Ryad, a high-profile TV presenter who is widely criticized for his egocentricity by those around him, with his only defender being Moussa, who admires him greatly.
When an accident befalls Moussa, causing him serious brain damage, he now speaks without any filter, telling the brutal truth to friends and family alike, leading all to resent him, except Ryad.
Our Ties — which was co-written by Maïwenn— stars Sami Bouajila, Roschdy Zem, Meriem Serbah, Maïwenn, and Rachid Bouchareb.
The film was produced by Laziz Belkaï, with Wild Bunch International managing worldwide sales and MAD Solutions handling distribution in the Arab world.
