With these collaborations, ArkEdge Space plans to help build regional hubs for satellite data utilization.

ArkEdge Space, a Tokyo-based space startup specialising in the planning, design, production and operation of micro-satellite constellations, has announced the signing of multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and Letters of Intent (LoIs) with institutions across Africa. The agreements establish frameworks to tackle pressing social challenges and promote human capital development on the continent through the use of satellite technologies and space data.
At the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) Business Forum, held in Yokohama in August 2025, ArkEdge Space formalised agreements with the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) and Kenyas Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), working in collaboration with UNISEC-Global and the University of Tokyos ISSL laboratories. These partnerships will advance the application of space data and satellite IoT solutions. A separate agreement with Burkina Fasos National Council for Sustainable Development (CNDD) focuses on leveraging satellite platforms for innovation, capacity building, and sustainable growth.
Through CROSS-U, the Cross-border University Initiative, ArkEdge also signed MoUs and LoIs with the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI) of Ghana, the Embassy of Ethiopia in Japan, the Zimbabwe National Geospatial and Space Agency (ZINGSA) and the Félix Houphouët-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute in Côte dIvoire. These agreements reinforce joint efforts to expand education, technology exchange, and research in small satellite development while building frameworks for funding and capacity growth.
Further extending its collaborations, ArkEdge Space signed an LoI at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2025) in Sydney with Angolas Gabinete de Gestão do Programa Espacial Nacional (GGPEN). The agreement outlines cooperation to strengthen satellite deployment and broaden the use of space data in addressing development priorities across Africa.
ArkEdge Space aims to harness satellite constellations and geospatial data platforms to support climate change mitigation, agriculture and forestry management, infrastructure monitoring, and disaster preparedness. Its initiatives are designed to create regional hubs for space data utilisation while advancing education, capacity-building programs, and sustainable development across Africa.
Our mission is to empower people with satellites for a prosperous future, the company reaffirmed, underlining its commitment to expanding access to space-based technologies for practical solutions and long-term growth.
