At MEASAT, the Postcard to Space activity will see participants creating a postcard to express their space dreams using AI tools, guided by the Apadilangit Space Academy.
Measat Global Berhad (MEASAT), Malaysias spacetech solutions provider, has expanded its efforts to promote space science and technology awareness through a new collaboration with Apadilangit Space Academy, the countrys foremost space and tech education organisation. The partnership supports the Malaysia Space Dream initiative, a programme created by Apadilangit to inspire young Malaysians to pursue careers in the nations growing space sector.
As part of this collaboration, MEASAT is hosting two sessions of the Postcard to Space activity at its Teleport and Broadcast Centre. The first, held on November 22, welcomed 50 secondary school students aged 13 to 18, while a second session on November 29 is dedicated to MEASAT staff and their school-going children aged seven and above. Participants will design postcards expressing their aspirations for space exploration using AI-assisted tools under the guidance of Apadilangit Space Academy.
These postcards will be printed and sent to Blue Origins Club for the Future in the United States, joining submissions from students across Malaysia. Founded by Amazons Jeff Bezos, Blue Origin will fly the postcards to the edge of spaceover 100 km above Earthbefore returning them to participants stamped with a Flown to Space mark, creating a personalised space-travel keepsake. Apadilangit serves as Blue Origins official Malaysian partner for this initiative.
During their visit to MEASAT, participants will also take part in interactive demonstrations and tour the companys facilities to gain insight into how its satellites and technologies support communities nationwide and beyond.
Yau Chyong Lim, Chief Operating Officer of MEASAT, said: “MEASAT is pleased to work with Apadilangit Space Academy once again, this time for the Malaysia Space Dream initiative. It is inspiring and beneficial for young Malaysians to have a tangible space experience through Postcard to Space, besides learning to use AI tools. As a pioneer in Malaysian spacetech, we have long been committed to developing a robust talent pipeline for the sector, by enabling our young personnel to continuously pursue self-advancement, and by supporting STEM education and digital inclusion among Malaysian youths so the next generation of spacetech leaders can realise their full potential. By participating in the Malaysia Space Dream initiative, we are also pleased to contribute towards the goals of the National Space Policy 2030.”
The National Space Policy 2030 charts Malaysia’s direction in developing a sustainable and competitive space ecosystem that contributes to national growth, security and well-being.
Hafez Murtza, Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Apadilangit Space Academy, added: “We are grateful to MEASAT for hosting the first activity of the Malaysia Space Dream initiative initiated and developed by Apadilangit Space Academy. Through this effort, we want to give young Malaysians a tangible connection to space exploration, and the opportunity to experience space as something real and reachable, not abstract or distant. By offering early exposure and hands-on experiences, we hope young Malaysians will be inspired to play a role in realising our national space vision, turning imagination into action and shaping the space technologies and solutions of tomorrow.”
The Malaysia Space Dream programme comprises several phases, including Postcard to Space, the Earth & Space Online Hackathon and the National Space Camp. The postcard phase aims to collect at least 5,000 submissions from students across all educational levels. The hackathon will involve 300 primary and lower secondary students working in teams to address real-world environmental issues using space data, AI and creative problem solving. Sixty of these participants will then be selected for the National Space Camp, where they will receive hands-on training in robotics, satellites, rocketry and AI applications for space, supporting the development of critical thinking, innovation and teamwork.
In addition to MEASAT, the initiative is backed by several national organisations, including the Malaysia Space Agency (MYSA), the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the Malaysia Space Industry Consortium (MASIC), the Malaysian Scouts Association, SpaceTech Malaysia Association (SMA) and the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM).
