The initiative will enhance nationwide remote communications, mobile connectivity and offshore operations.
The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) has joined forces with Eutelsat to provide advanced Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services across Nigeria. The collaboration, announced by NIGCOMSATs Corporate Affairs office, will leverage OneWebs cutting-edge LEO satellite network to enhance connectivity nationwide.
The partnership aims to deliver high-speed, low-latency connectivity solutions for various sectors, including government services, businesses and rural communities. It is expected to improve remote communications, mobile connectivity and offshore operations across the country.
Speaking on the partnership, Jane Egerton-Idehen, Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT, emphasised its importance in addressing Nigerias digital divide. This partnership marks a major milestone for NIGCOMSAT, allowing us to bridge Nigerias digital divide with OneWebs advanced LEO satellite technology. Together, we will deliver scalable and reliable connectivity solutions to drive growth across government services, businesses, and communities nationwide, she said.
The collaboration also highlights the strong bilateral relationship between Nigeria and France in advancing satellite and space technologies. By pooling their resources, NIGCOMSAT and Eutelsat aim to foster innovation, accelerate digital transformation, and expand connectivity opportunities within Nigeria and the broader region.
